The Signal Acquisition and Actuation Module (SAM) acts as the principal body control and power distribution unit in these Mercedes-Benz vehicles. It houses the main fuse matrix and relay array for the vehicle body circuits, managing power distribution and signal routing for exterior lighting (headlights, taillights, fog lights), windscreen wipers and washers, horn, electric windows, and numerous other body and chassis functions. Front and rear SAM variants exist — confirm which is required. The module communicates with the instrument cluster, engine management and comfort systems over the vehicle CAN bus.
