This SAM unit brings together the vehicle’s primary fuse distribution circuitry and embedded control logic, acting as the body electrical management centre for the W202 and W210. Key functions include all exterior lighting — headlights, fog lights, and indicators — windscreen wipers and washers, electric windows, the horn, and central locking, all coordinated through the CAN bus.
When this SAM fuse box begins to fail, drivers typically notice fuses blowing without apparent cause, exterior lighting that drops out intermittently or completely, wipers or washers that cease to operate, electric windows that stop responding, and central locking that becomes erratic. Complete loss of all body electrical control is possible in worst-case failure.
