The actuator positions the distribution flap inside the HVAC housing, routing heated or cooled air to the correct delivery zone — the instrument panel vents, the footwell outlets, or the windscreen defroster channel — in response to the selected climate mode.
When this actuator fails, airflow direction becomes fixed regardless of control input, mechanical clicking or humming develops from behind the dashboard, and climate diagnostic scans may register a flap motor fault.
