The ABS/ESP control unit processes continuous inputs from all four wheel speed sensors, the yaw rate sensor and the lateral acceleration sensor. During hard braking it modulates brake hydraulic pressure via the ABS hydraulic unit to prevent individual wheels locking. The ESP programme compares actual vehicle yaw with driver steering intent and, when deviation is detected, selectively brakes individual wheels to restore the intended trajectory. Traction control reduces wheel spin by cutting engine torque and applying selective wheel braking. The module communicates with the engine ECU, instrument cluster and hydraulic unit over the CAN bus.

ABS or ESP warning lamps illuminated on the instrument cluster, deactivation of anti-lock or stability control functions, stored fault codes readable via Peugeot Planet or a compatible scan tool, erratic braking pedal feel during hard stops, or stability and traction control systems remaining permanently disabled.
