This complete steering column switch assembly includes the indicator/wiper stalks, cruise control switch, horn contact, and the clock spring (spiral cable/squib). The clock spring is a coiled ribbon conductor that maintains unbroken electrical connection between the rotating steering wheel and the fixed wiring harness — carrying the driver airbag squib circuit, horn and all steering wheel control signals (audio, phone, cruise). All steering column switch inputs and the airbag circuit pass through this unit.
Driver airbag or SRS warning light (most critical — a failed clock spring disarms the airbag), horn failure, indicator/wiper stalks unresponsive, steering wheel controls (audio, phone, cruise) inactive, SRS fault codes for the spiral cable in the airbag ECU.
Safety-critical. Professional installation is essential — the airbag squib circuit routes through the clock spring, and incorrect fitting can prevent deployment. SRS fault codes MUST be cleared by a technician after fitting. Verify OEM before ordering. 14-day returns on unmodified parts.
