The Signal Acquisition and Actuation Module (SAM) serves as the nerve centre for body electrical distribution in these Mercedes-Benz W211 E-Class vehicles. It houses the main fuse matrix and relay array for the vehicle body circuits, managing power distribution and signal routing for exterior lighting (headlights, taillights, fog lights), windscreen wipers and washers, horn, electric windows, and numerous other body and chassis functions. Front and rear SAM variants exist — confirm which is required. The module communicates with the instrument cluster, engine management and comfort systems over the vehicle CAN bus.
Diagnostic communication with the SAM being unavailable over the CAN bus when connected to Star Diagnosis; multiple unrelated dashboard warning messages appearing together; fuses failing immediately upon replacement; groups of body electrical functions — lighting, wipers, electric windows — becoming unresponsive; or SAM-related fault codes present in the body control unit.
Good used condition. Always cross-reference the OEM number with your specific vehicle and build date before ordering — SAM variants differ between model years, body configurations and optional extras. Professional installation is required. The replacement SAM must be configured and coded to the vehicle using Mercedes-Benz Star Diagnosis (XENTRY veya SIM/DAS).
