This C-suffix variant of the 443 Bosch Jetronic family was factory-fitted to specific petrol engine configurations of that period, distinguishing it from other variants in the same series.
This ECU operates the fuel injection and ignition management functions for the petrol engine, using signals from the crankshaft position sensor, intake air temperature sensor, and oxygen probe to calculate precise injection events and advance the ignition map appropriately. Idle speed is regulated through a bypass air valve actuated by the module.
On early Audi platforms, ECU faults often present as an engine that starts and then immediately stalls, erratic idle speed that fluctuates noticeably between warm and cold, flat spots during acceleration from low rpm, or an inability to achieve a stable lambda reading. These symptoms can persist even after replacing serviceable sensors.
This part was carefully removed from a written-off early Audi and tested to confirm that it performs to the 443907311C OEM standard. Given the vintage of these vehicles, fitting by a specialist with classic VAG experience is strongly recommended.
