This BMW EWS 3 immobilizer control module is a genuine OEM electronic component for BMW E46, E39 and X5 models. Primary OEM number 6905667. It is designed to evaluate the signal of the key transponder, confirm that the key is authorized and hand the start approval to the engine control unit, so that the engine cannot be run by an unauthorized key. It works together with the ignition lock and the engine management of the same car.
Its job is to identify the key, run a secure code exchange with the DME engine control unit and unlock the starter and injection when everything matches. A properly working EWS 3 module supports smooth starting, dependable vehicle protection and correct operation of the immobilizer system between the key, the ignition and the engine electronics.
