This ECU was originally manufactured to OEM standard for the Audi production line.
Acting as the brain of the engine management system, this module controls fuel injection duration, spark advance timing, exhaust gas recirculation interaction, and deceleration fuel cut-off. It continuously adjusts the air/fuel mixture using closed-loop feedback from the lambda probe, optimising both performance and emissions output.
A deteriorating ECU on the Audi 80 platform may cause symptoms including irregular idle oscillation, misfires under acceleration, poor cold-start response, or a sudden inability to start. The fault may not always trigger a clear diagnostic code, making ECU substitution a valid diagnostic step when sensors and wiring check out correctly.
