The ABS control module processes wheel speed data from all four corners, identifying wheel deceleration patterns that indicate lock-up risk under hard braking. It commands the hydraulic modulator to reduce and restore brake pressure in rapid cycles, preventing the wheels from locking and enabling the driver to maintain steering input. On ESP-equipped variants the module also monitors yaw rate and lateral g forces to detect and counteract oversteer or understeer by selectively applying individual wheel brakes.
