Combining a fused relay board with control electronics, the SAM handles the W211’s body electrical distribution. Its responsibilities include exterior lighting circuits — dipped and main beam, fog lights, and indicators — windscreen wipers and washers, electric windows, the horn, and central locking, with all communication routed over the vehicle’s CAN bus.
Signs of SAM failure include fuses that blow repeatedly without clear cause, lighting circuits that fail unexpectedly, wipers or washers that stop responding, electric windows that lose operation, and central locking that becomes erratic or completely unresponsive. Total loss of body electrical control is possible in advanced failure.
Verify fitment by checking OEM number 2115453101. Professional installation is strongly recommended. SCN coding through Mercedes-Benz XENTRY/DAS is mandatory following replacement. 14-day returns accepted on unmodified parts.
