This combined sensor measures the vehicle’s yaw rate and lateral acceleration, providing real-time data to the DSC / ESP stability control system, which uses these inputs to detect and correct oversteer or understeer by applying selective braking and adjusting engine torque.
Failure of the yaw rate sensor typically triggers a DSC or ESP warning light on the instrument cluster, reduced or non-functional stability control, and may also affect related systems such as ABS, active steering, or hill-hold assist.
