OEM part number 6900412. This is a genuine used BMW PDC control module (parking sensor ECU) for the E53 X5, E38 7 Series and E39 5 Series. Each unit is individually tested before listing and despatched in good used condition.
The PDC control module is the central processor for the parking distance warning system. It supplies power to and communicates with each ultrasonic sensor mounted in the front and/or rear bumper, measuring the time delay of reflected echo pulses to calculate the precise distance between the vehicle and surrounding obstacles. The module converts this data into graded audible alert sequences — tones that increase in frequency as the gap narrows — and, on vehicles with a visual display, triggers the on-screen representation of obstacle proximity in the instrument cluster or iDrive system. Communication with the body control module and instrument cluster occurs over the CAN bus.
Parking sensor system completely silent when reverse gear is selected or when the front sensors are activated, audible warning tones absent during close-proximity manoeuvring, a constant unwanted beeping when no obstacle is present, a PDC warning message or amber alert symbol appearing on the instrument cluster, or one or more sensor positions appearing unresponsive while the others function correctly.
This module is supplied in good used condition. Always verify the OEM part number against your exact vehicle and specification before ordering — PDC modules are VIN-specific on most applications. Professional installation is recommended. Coding to the vehicle VIN using BMW ISTA diagnostic software is required after fitting on the majority of applications; without coding the system may not activate or may log persistent fault codes. 14-day returns are accepted on unmodified parts.
