This BMW DWA alarm inclination tilt sensor is a genuine OEM alarm component for BMW E46 and E39 models. Primary OEM number 8386932. It is designed to track the attitude of the car while the anti-theft system is armed and to report a sudden change of angle to the DWA alarm, so that jacking, tilting or towing the car away does not go unnoticed. It works together with the other sensors and the control unit of the same alarm system.
Its job is to sense the inclination of the car body and notify the alarm control unit when it changes beyond the stored threshold, such as when a wheel is removed with a jack or the car is lifted onto a trailer. A properly working tilt sensor supports full theft protection, correct arming behavior and correct operation of the factory DWA alarm system with no unwanted alarms.
