Part number 9147196-01. A genuine used [[BMW]] CAS3 (Car Access System 3) module for the E87 1 Series, E90 3 Series, and E60 5 Series (2004–2010). Each unit is sourced from a tested donor vehicle and inspected before despatch. ¶ The CAS3 is the immobiliser and primary access control unit for the vehicle. It authenticates encrypted key transponders, authorises engine starts by synchronising the Individual Serial Number (ISN) with the engine ECU, and manages remote central locking and key learning — making it a critical security component in the [[BMW]] drivetrain architecture. ¶ Symptoms of CAS3 failure include the engine refusing to start or intermittently failing to start, the vehicle failing to recognise programmed keys, remote central locking becoming inoperative, and fault messages relating to the immobiliser or Car Access System appearing in the instrument cluster. ¶ Professional installation is essential. BMW ISTA programming, ISN synchronisation with the engine ECU, and key adaptation are all required — specialist tools and authorised access are necessary. Not suitable for DIY fitting.
