Does a Replacement BMW E46 ABS Module Need Coding After Fitting
In most cases a replacement ABS module on the BMW E46 is not plug-and-play, but it is not deeply coded either. Which E46 Variants Are Affected
All E46 body styles — sedan (E46/4), touring (E46/3), coupe (E46/2) and convertible (E46/C) — use the same ABS platform, but DSC fitment varied by market and specification level. DSC was standard on M sport and certain diesel variants from 2001 onward in Europe and optional on others. North American specification E46s fitted with DSC use different coding values. The second most frequent error is fitting a unit from an E46 M3 into a standard car — or the reverse — because the part number looks close enough.
