The actuator operates the distribution flap in the HVAC housing, selecting which cabin zones receive conditioned air — directing airflow to the face-level vents, the footwell grilles, or the windscreen defroster in response to climate control module commands.
A failing actuator typically causes airflow direction to lock in one position, produces repetitive clicking from behind the dashboard, and may result in climate system fault codes being stored during a diagnostic scan.
