This fuel filler cap closes the fuel tank inlet on the Golf IV, Bora, Passat, Audi A3, A4 and A6, sealing the filler neck to prevent fuel vapour from escaping, block contamination through the opening and avoid evaporative emission faults being logged by the engine management system.
A damaged, missing or poorly sealing fuel cap on these models can cause a noticeable fuel smell near the filler area, trigger an evaporative emission fault code and illuminate a warning lamp on the instrument cluster until the cap is replaced.
