Description
OEM reference 4M5T-14A664-AB. A genuine used, tested Ford Focus clock spring — the spiral cable that carries uninterrupted electrical signals between the rotating steering wheel hub and the static wiring harness.
Known variously as a spiral cable, rotary coupler, or squib, the clock spring is a coiled flat-ribbon conductor housed in a moulded plastic cassette positioned between the steering column and the steering wheel hub. As the wheel turns from lock to lock, the internal ribbon coil winds and unwinds to keep every electrical connection unbroken — serving the driver airbag firing circuit, the horn relay, and all wheel-mounted switches including cruise control, audio, telephone, and paddle-shift inputs. Its role in the driver airbag circuit classifies it as a safety-critical part.
A clicking, crunching, or grinding noise when turning the steering wheel to full lock; an SRS or airbag warning light illuminated on the instrument cluster — the most critical symptom, as it may indicate a broken driver airbag circuit; horn failure or intermittent horn; complete loss of all steering wheel control functions (audio, telephone, cruise control); or visible damage to the internal ribbon conductor.
Safety-critical. A qualified technician must perform the installation — the airbag pyrotechnic squib is wired through this unit, and incorrect fitting may prevent airbag deployment in the event of a collision. All SRS fault codes must be reset with diagnostic equipment after replacement. Confirm the OEM reference against your vehicle’s exact specification before ordering. 14-day return window on unmodified parts.
Returns accepted only for genuine faults — faulty on arrival, not as described, or wrong part supplied — requested within 14 days, with all 3 anti-tamper stickers intact. No returns for change of mind, incorrect installation, coding/programming, or buyer compatibility errors; checking compatibility (OEM number, firmware, vehicle) is the buyer’s responsibility.
