This ECS CAN bus trailer towbar module is a genuine OEM electronic component for vehicles fitted with a towbar and a trailer socket. Primary OEM number 5F007. It operates on a 12V supply and is designed to connect the trailer socket wiring to the vehicle CAN bus so that the trailer lighting is controlled correctly by the car, in the same way as a factory-fitted towing system.
Its job is to receive the lighting and indicator commands from the vehicle network and to switch the trailer lamp circuits, including turn signals, brake lights, tail lights and fog light, while reporting trailer presence to the car electronics.
