The steering angle sensor measures the precise rotational position and rate of change of the steering wheel. This data is fed continuously to the ESP/DSC electronic stability programme, which uses it alongside yaw rate and lateral acceleration inputs to determine intended vehicle trajectory and detect deviation requiring corrective braking or engine intervention. The sensor may be mounted on the steering column below the clock spring or integrated into the SZL module.
ESP, DSC or stability control warning lamp on the dashboard, deactivation of the stability programme, stored fault codes for the steering angle sensor in the ABS/DSC module, uncorrected steering pull under braking or cornering, or ESP calibration errors appearing after wheel alignment.
Good used condition. Professional installation required. After fitting, the steering angle sensor must be calibrated (zero-point set with wheels straight ahead) using diagnostic equipment — without this, ESP/DSC cannot function. Verify OEM before ordering. 14-day returns.
