This BMW AHV swivel towbar control module is a genuine OEM electronic component for BMW F01, F10 and F25 models. Primary OEM number 6856980. It is designed to control the electric swiveling towbar, also known as the retractable tow hitch, by driving the motor that folds the ball neck out of the bumper and back into its hidden position, and by monitoring the position of the towbar.
Its job is to receive the extend and retract request from the switch, drive the electric motor, check the end positions and the locking of the ball neck and report the towbar status to the vehicle electronics, including the trailer socket function.
