Description
This BMW EWS 3 immobilizer control module is a genuine OEM security component for BMW E46, E39 and X5 vehicles. Primary OEM number 6905666. It is designed to communicate with the transponder ring around the ignition lock, validate the code of the key and pass an approval to the engine control unit, so that only a correctly coded original key can start the engine. It works together with the ignition lock and the engine management of the same car.
Its job is to check the identity of the key, share a changing security code with the engine control unit and permit the starter and fuel injection only after a successful match. A properly working EWS 3 module supports dependable starting, strong theft protection and correct operation of the whole immobilizer chain from the key to the engine management.
Common signs of a faulty unit include no start despite a turning starter, an immobilizer warning that stays on or flashes, keys that are rejected, random no start events and fault codes about the key or the link to the engine control unit. When the module fails, the engine may stay locked out for good, so the car cannot be driven until the system works again. A working replacement is often the quickest way to end the problem.
This is a used original part, removed from a vehicle and tested before sale. Match the exact OEM number 6905666 before ordering. Professional installation is recommended, and EWS alignment, key programming or coding with the engine control unit is normally required where applicable, since the module is linked to its original vehicle.
Returns accepted only for genuine faults — faulty on arrival, not as described, or wrong part supplied — requested within 14 days, with all 3 anti-tamper stickers intact. No returns for change of mind, incorrect installation, coding/programming, or buyer compatibility errors; checking compatibility (OEM number, firmware, vehicle) is the buyer’s responsibility.
