The E39 Body Module is the central body convenience controller, co-ordinating central locking for all doors and the boot lid, one-touch electric window operation with the remote key comfort-close function, interior and door courtesy lighting management, and luggage compartment illumination. The module interfaces with the remote key infrared receiver to handle the full convenience access and exit cycle. On models with power folding mirrors, the Body Module also manages retraction and extension.
When the Body Module fails on the E39, common faults include doors that refuse to respond to the central locking button or remote key, electric windows reverting to individual switch-only operation, interior courtesy lights that fail to activate at door opening, and loss of the remote key comfort-close function.
