This BMW sunroof module MDS is a genuine OEM electronic component for BMW E60, E63, E90 and E84 vehicles with CAN-Bus communication. Primary OEM number 9137054. It is designed to control the electric sunroof motor, reading the switch commands and the roof position signals and exchanging data with the vehicle network so the glass roof moves smoothly and safely. It is the control unit mounted on the sunroof frame of these models.
Its job is to drive the sunroof motor for opening, closing and tilting, monitor the motor current and the position of the roof, and stop or reverse the movement when an obstruction is detected. A properly working sunroof module supports smooth roof travel, correct comfort closing, reliable pinch protection and correct operation of the whole roof system on the CAN-Bus network, including closing the roof together with the windows.
