This diesel fuel filler cap seals the fuel tank inlet on the W204, W209, W211 and W219, closing securely to prevent diesel vapour escape, fuel contamination from the filler neck and evaporative emission faults that the engine management system may record during normal operation.
A worn or missing diesel fuel cap can cause an evaporative emission fault code to be stored and may illuminate a check engine or fuel cap warning on the instrument cluster, and should be replaced to restore proper sealing of the fuel system.
