This ignition key slot module for the E60, E61, E63 and E64 houses the transponder reader antenna and forms part of the ignition lock assembly, allowing the CAS to read the key, verify the immobiliser code and authorise engine start on the 5 Series and 6 Series.
When the ignition key slot fails on these models, the vehicle may not recognise the key, display immobiliser or key warnings, or develop an intermittent no-start fault, requiring the slot module to be replaced.
