The PDC control module serves as the central processing unit for the parking distance warning system. That distance data is translated into an escalating sequence of audible alert tones — increasing in frequency as the gap closes — and, where a visual display is fitted, the module feeds proximity information to the instrument cluster or iDrive screen. All communication with the body control module and further vehicle systems takes place over the CAN bus.
