This LEAR switch module for the X5 E53 integrates the rotary headlight and sidelight switch with the lighting control electronics, managing the exterior lighting circuits from the dashboard and interfacing with the E53 body control system for correct headlight, sidelight and associated lighting output.
Failure of this LEAR module on the X5 E53 can cause the headlights or sidelights to stop responding to switch input, produce intermittent exterior lighting behaviour, or store lighting fault codes in the E53 body control module.
