Description
This BMW EWS 2 immobiliser control module is a genuine OEM electronic component for BMW E36, E38 and E39 models. Primary OEM number 8375840. It is designed to store the vehicle security data and communicate with the transponder in the ignition key, the engine control unit and the instrument cluster, so that the engine can only be started with a correctly coded original key, which protects the car against theft.
Its job is to read the transponder signal from the key through the ring antenna around the ignition lock, compare it with the stored key data and release the start authorization to the engine management through a secured rolling code. A properly working EWS module supports reliable starting, correct key recognition and correct operation of the anti theft system in daily use.
Common signs of a faulty unit include no start or cranking without the engine firing, the security light staying on or flashing in the instrument cluster, keys that are not recognized, intermittent starting problems and stored fault codes for the immobiliser or key communication. When the EWS module or its communication fails, the engine control unit may block fuel injection and ignition, and the vehicle may not start at all.
This is a used original part, removed from a vehicle and tested before sale. Match the exact OEM number 8375840 before ordering. Professional installation is recommended, and EWS synchronization with the engine control unit, key programming and adaptation to the vehicle are required where applicable, so ask a BMW specialist before fitting.
Returns accepted only for genuine faults — faulty on arrival, not as described, or wrong part supplied — requested within 14 days, with all 3 anti-tamper stickers intact. No returns for change of mind, incorrect installation, coding/programming, or buyer compatibility errors; checking compatibility (OEM number, firmware, vehicle) is the buyer’s responsibility.
