This Park Assist (PDC) control module governs the full operation of the parking distance warning system. It activates the ultrasonic sensors in the front and rear bumpers, evaluates the round-trip echo times to determine obstacle proximity and translates those measurements into stepped audible alerts that grow more frequent as clearance reduces. Where a visual aid is fitted, the module also supplies distance data to the instrument cluster or COMAND display. All system communications pass over the vehicle CAN bus.
