The ABS/ESP control module is the central processor for the braking and stability systems on the W210 E-Class. It continuously reads wheel speed data from all four sensors alongside yaw rate and lateral acceleration signals. ABS prevents wheel lock-up under hard braking by individually modulating hydraulic pressure at each corner. ESP (Electronic Stability Programme) detects oversteer and understeer conditions and corrects the vehicle’s trajectory through selective wheel braking and engine torque management. BAS (Brake Assist System) identifies emergency braking from pedal application speed and boosts hydraulic pressure accordingly. PML (Pre-emptive Brake Pressure Modulation) pre-fills the brake circuit to reduce ABS response time and shorten stopping distances. The module communicates with the hydraulic unit, engine ECU and instrument cluster over the CAN bus.
