This coolant system pressure cap seals the coolant expansion tank on compatible Mercedes-Benz models, maintaining the correct operating pressure in the cooling circuit and releasing pressure through the integrated valve at the rated threshold to protect cooling system components and hoses from over-pressurisation.
A faulty cap that fails to hold pressure correctly can allow coolant to escape through the overflow, reduce the effective boiling point of the coolant and cause the engine to run hotter than normal or overheat under sustained load.
