The E46 Comfort Control Module consolidates management of several key convenience systems: central locking for all doors and the boot, one-touch electric window control, remote key comfort-close and comfort-open, interior and courtesy lighting, boot illumination, and the vehicle’s infrared key reception circuit. Electric folding mirrors on equipped variants are also directed by the CCM.
Symptoms pointing to CCM failure include an E46 that won’t lock or unlock remotely, windows that lose their one-touch functionality and only move while the switch is actively pressed, interior lighting that activates or cuts out unpredictably, comfort-close functions that no longer operate, and a remote key that becomes unreliable.
