This fuel filler cap provides a secure closure for the fuel tank inlet on the Passat B6 and B7, Tiguan, Audi A4 B8 and A5, preventing fuel vapour escape from the filler neck, fuel contamination through the filler opening and evaporative emission faults during normal driving and parking.
A cracked or absent cap can cause a fuel smell near the rear of the vehicle, store an evaporative emission fault in the engine management system and illuminate a check engine or fuel cap warning on the instrument cluster.
