This Westfalia Uni CAN trailer towbar module is a genuine OEM towing electronics component for BMW vehicles fitted with a Westfalia tow hitch. Primary OEM number 506625. It is designed to manage the trailer socket wiring, switch the trailer lighting circuits and communicate over the CAN bus with the vehicle electrical system, so that a towed caravan, trailer or bike carrier is lit and monitored correctly during use.
Its job is to detect that a trailer is connected, supply power to the trailer tail lights, turn indicators and brake lamps, and pass the trailer status to the car so that bulb monitoring and related driver assistance functions respond properly. A properly working towbar module supports correct trailer lighting, dependable bulb failure detection and correct operation of the towing system under every load and weather condition.
